In October 2020 TECLAB undertook supplementary geotechnical investigations at Entebbe Airport on behalf of China Communication Corporation Company Ltd. The objective of the ground investigation was to determine geotechnical information including design parameters for the proposed structural foundations and any associated infrastructure. To this aim, In January 2021, TECLAB Ltd sub-contracted SADRiNE Consulting Group to come up with a geotechnical interpretative report for the conducted geotechnical investigations.
The scope of work included;
- Drilling of eleven (11) boreholes eight (08) boreholes to a depth of 15.0m and three (03) boreholes to 10.0m and logging of all the boreholes for strata profiles.
- Performing the Standard Penetration Test (SPT) in all the eleven (11) boreholes at 1.5m intervals.
- Registering the groundwater occurrence in case any is encountered.
- Recovering of both disturbed and undisturbed samples.
- Laboratory testing of recovered undisturbed samples for consolidation, Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) and Undrained Shear Test (Unconsolidated Undrained Triaxial).
- Laboratory testing of recovered disturbed samples for Natural Moisture Content, Bulk Density, Particle size distribution, Atterberg limits, Specific Gravity, Organic Content, pH value, Chloride and Sulphate content.
- Preparation of a detailed factual report and a geotechnical interpretative report
The aim of the assignment sub-contracted to SADRiNE was to;
Provide a vital link between the factual laboratory and site investigation data and perform engineering analyses in order to come up with geotechnical parameters to aid in recommendations for the appropriate foundation scheme for the proposed constructions
