Geotechnical Investigations for Proposed Quarry Rock Site in Lira District

As global industrial and economic development accelerates, the demand for construction materials, such as crushed stones and aggregates, has surged, driving the growth of the quarry industry. To ensure the financial viability of quarry operations, it is crucial to understand the challenges of both pre-production and production periods and to apply established geological, geotechnical, and technical factors. These measures can save operators significant time and money. In this context, M/S AKOL HOLDINGS LIMITED engaged SADRiNE Consulting Group Limited to perform a geotechnical investigation on a proposed quarry rock site in Lira District. The field studies were conducted from August 9th to August 12th, 2022, followed by laboratory testing and report writing.
The investigation aimed to determine the suitability of the quarry rock for use as construction material. It involved core drilling at five locations, laboratory testing of recovered rock samples, and producing a detailed geotechnical investigation report. The findings provided essential insights into the physical and engineering properties of the rock, facilitating informed decision-making for the project’s development.
