National Water and Sewage Cooperation (NWSC) is planning to construct a Sewage Treatment Plant and a Water Treatment plant in Mbale District on 10 acres of land. The water treatment plant and sewage treatment plant shall sit on 4 acres and 6 acres respectively as specified in the terms of reference.
To be able to design the above facilities, geotechnical surveys were required and to this aim SADRiNE Consulting Group Limited was contracted by TYSULT Engineers to undertake these Geotechnical Surveys in relation to the proposed constructions. The aim of the investigations was to;
- Carry out a literature search (review the geology of the areas where the plant shall be located, search available physiographical data, hydrological data and previous site investigations data, along with any available well water/swampy records;
- Carry out preliminary site reconnaissance to physically examine land forms, drainage, and erosion features;
- Conduct field explorations including core drilling of 4 boreholes, collecting of disturbed and undisturbed samples, water table monitoring, carry out laboratory testing and present a soils report.
