Hydrogeological and Geotechnical Investigations for Latoro Small Hydro Power Project in Uganda
Aswa – Lolim Hydro Power Company Ltd (ALHC), primarily owned by East African Power (EAP), is developing the Latoro Small Hydro Power Project, a medium flow and medium head scheme of approximately 4.8 MW in northern Uganda. To support this initiative, ALHC contracted SADRiNE Consulting Group Limited to undertake detailed geotechnical studies. The field investigations, carried out from October 24th to October 29th, 2021, involved comprehensive surface and subsurface explorations, culminating in a report that includes geotechnical recommendations for suitable foundations, slope stability, earthwork, and drainage designs.
Supervised by Samuel Jjuuko and Evelyn Lydah Awori, the study included hydrogeological, geomorphological, geological, and seismological investigations. These efforts provided critical insights into the site’s physical, chemical, and engineering properties, ensuring that the design and construction of the Latoro Small Hydro Power Project meet the required technical and sustainability standards. The findings were documented in a detailed report to guide the project’s development and implementation.
