Consultancy Services for Detailed Design and Supervision of Earth Dams and Multi-Purpose Water Systems and Facilities. Lot 2: Ojama Earth Dam in Serere District

The Government of Uganda (GoU), through the Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE), engaged Sering Ingegneria srl for consultancy services aimed at enhancing water security in Ojama, Serere District. The project focused on the detailed design and supervision of earth dams and multipurpose water systems to support irrigation, livestock watering, fisheries, and small industries. This initiative, which aligns with the Uganda National Development Plan II and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), targeted the eradication of poverty and hunger by improving water resource management in a region heavily affected by prolonged droughts.
The consultancy service was divided into three main phases: the preliminary study, detailed design, and construction supervision. Key activities included comprehensive data collection, socio-economic surveys, water resources assessment, detailed engineering design, environmental and social impact assessments, and rigorous construction supervision to ensure adherence to specifications. The project’s overarching goal was to provide technically feasible, financially responsible, and environmentally sustainable solutions for multi-purpose water supply, ultimately supporting sustainable agricultural productivity and water management in the region.
