“Success doesn’t occur in a vacuum. In reality, there are a number of factors that lead to the success of an entrepreneur.” Marwa Abdelaziz (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/associate-successful-people-here-only-i-tell-u-whybut-abdelaziz-/)

According to Marwa Abdelaziz, one of the factors that quicken your steps to success in everything is to associate with people who have succeeded in the same thing you are pursuing. Personally, I totally agree with her. And by the end of this blog you will know why. To be able to move from one level of my life to another higher level, you need people to take you there. In other words people to lift you up or open doors for you.

When I published the first blog, I shared it directly with my mentor Prof. Denis Kalumba. He then advised me to post it on LinkedIn and share the link through his Email. In a few minutes after posting, he liked the post and also commented. Can you imagine my first blog received more than 10,000 impressions in less than week! The blog was read directly by more than 5,000 people. Just because of Prof. Kalumba associating with it.

Through the same blog, I was contacted by a Professor from India (https://sites.google.com/site/bpnaveen864/home) and two practicing engineers from Pakistan and Nepal. We have shared some insights with these people.

Since then,  my mentor has liked all my blog posts on LinkedIn in addition to commenting. My blogs have received a wider audience through association. Last week, I received an email from Prof. Kalumba requesting for a link to my last blog post so that he could read it and comment. And he actually did. What a mentor!!

Geotechnical Engineers associate with people who are improving themselves everyday. Who are climbing the ladder everyday. That is the only way they can also lift you up. Apostle Moses Mukisa of Worship Harvest Ministries says “You can not go where your mind has never been”. The same way “Your mentor can not take you where he/she has never been”.  Lately, I have found many mentors through books. Try the books and see.
